Now at The Macky Gallery: Gunbarrel 3
January 11 – February 15
Three local artists from diverse backgrounds: Lamya Deeb, who grew up in the city of Beirut, Lebanon; Ani Espriella from Colombia and Miami; Yuki Mikle from Japan. They now live within a block of each other in a Gunbarrel neighborhood between Boulder and Longmont. They have studied painting together and have exhibited together at the Blue Cloud Farms barn during Longmont Studio Tour.
Lamya Deeb is a passionate student of landscape art and of nature’s poetic expression. Lamya’s plein airpaintings convey her love for our local landscape and the natural beauty we are surrounded with every day. She has exhibited her work in local shows since 2009 and was a participant in last year’s Boulder County Parks and Open Space Plein Air Paint-Out and Exhibit. She has won numerous awards for herplein air work.

Ani Espriella has spent most of her adult life singing including lead for popular South Florida band Pangea and as a backup singer for Gloria Estefan. Ani decided to try her hand at visual arts and loves painting in oils because of the richness and bold color she can achieve with the medium. Her affinity toward warm reds, golds and browns can be seen in much of her work as are the recurring themes of musicians, landscapes, still life, and people and places of different cultures.

Yuki Mikle was born in Tokyo, Japan, where the beautiful four seasons shaped her interest and expression in art. She moved to Colorado in 1997 and currently lives in Gunbarrel with her husband and two children. Introduced to oil painting in 2005, Yuki continues to explore her interests in plain air. Yuki captures the beauty of the moment in nature, with natural inspiration around her, the ever-changing landscapes of nature.
